DAVID HOCKNEY words and images
EXHIBITION
DAVID HOCKNEY words and images
FROM 29/06/2005 - TO 18/09/2005
An exhibition of works from the collection of the British Council presenting, for the first time in Greece, 87 prints by David Hockney, one of the leading artists of the twentieth century.
The exhibition focuses on the prints produced by Hockney in the nineteen sixties and the nineteen seventies, which were inspired by literature. David Hockney is a painter, engraver, photographer and set designer, and critics associate him with the Pop Art movement, an association which he himself repudiates. His works are characterised by economy of technique, constant concern about light and an honest, earthy realism.

There will be a lecture by Marco Livingstone, art critic, curator and expert on the work of David Hockney in connection with the exhibition (Tuesday 13 September 2005 at 20:00 - Free admittance).
