Published in January 2007 in conjunction with the exhibition on the architectural oeuvre of Nikos Valsamakis, one of the major contemporary Greek architects. Nikos Valsamakis graduated from the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens in 1953, and since then he has worked in his own architectural practice with a tight group of collaborators, creating a rich body of work. The apartment block on Semitelou Street, the houses in Anavyssos, the “Amalia” hotel and others are landmarks in the renewal and evolution of contemporary Greek architecture. The catalogue showcases 37 works, representative of the fields in which he was active, covering the length of his professional career. The book has an introduction by Prof. M. Adami, Head of the Neo-Hellenic Architecture Archives, and Prof. D. Filippidis provides a theoretical background to the oeuvre in “Valsamakis – Architectural Passion”.
