This is the first attempt to make an overall inventory of Greek publishing output for the period 1864-1900, seeking to complete the fundamental bibliographic register by D. Ghinis and V. Mexas, which covered the years 1800-1863. It also constitutes a first step towards recording all published material, in accordance with the model of Volume A of Greek Bibliography of the 19th century by Philippos Eliou. Greek Bibliography 1864-1900 is the repository of the entries created over the past 20 years at the Bibliologic Workship, giving the interested public access to an extremely important data base about the Greek nineteenth century.
Professor Angelos Delivorrias, Director of the Benaki Museum and Manos Haritatos, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ELIA (The Hellenic Literary and Historical Archive) will address greetings at the presentation of the book by Philippos Eliou and Poppy Polemi (Thursday 8 September 2006, at 19:30). Talks will be given by historians Dimitris Arvanitakis, Vassilis Panagiotopoulos, Dimitris Spathis and Poppy Polemi. The discussion will be coordinated by Spyros Asdrahas.
