Yiorgos Demertzis studied violin with Stelios Kafandaris at the Helleniko Odeion and then with Max Rostal at Bern. As a soloist he has performed with many orchestras, he has participated in international festivals and played in many renowned concert halls. Founder of the New Hellenic Quartet, he has performed and recorded the majority of Greek works written for violin.
