Professor Jonathan Bloom of Boston College will give a lecture on: “The History and Role of Paper in Islamic Civilization and Art”.
Professor Jonathan Bloom teaches Islamic art and architecture at Boston College. His interests focus on the history and development of the minaret as well as that of paper in the Islamic world. He has written numerous books and scholarly articles. He is joint holder of the Norma Jean Calderwood Chair of Islamic and Asian Art with his wife Sheila Blair.
Their book Islamic Arts (London: Phaidon, 1997) has been translated into Greek (Kastaniotis Publications).

The talk will be given in English.
