Documentary A song for Argyris
SUN 14/10/2007
This documentary by Stefan Haupt is a film about the touching life story of Argyris Sfountouris, a special man, who at age four survived the mass murder carried out on June 10, 1944, by the German Occupation forces at the village of Distomo. He grew up in Switzerland and travelled around the world before returning to his birthplace and demanding recognition of the massacre that changed his life.
The events that marked the history of Greece over the past 50 years, ranging from the German Occupation and the Civil War to the Reinstatement of Democracy after the junta, form the background for Argyris’s story.
The film was awarded the audience prize at the 2007 Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, the audience prize at the 1st Festival of Greek Films in Los Angeles, and is nominated for the prize of best documentary in the Swiss Cinema Awards.
