1932-2007: 75 years of History, 75 years of Memory
Fondation Hellénique de la Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris
WED 28/11/2007
This event is a review of the 75 years of history and collective memory of the Fondation Hellénique, the Greek Student Union at the International University Campus of Paris, a place of life, artistic and scientific creativity for hundreds of Greek and foreign students.
The Fondation Hellénique was established in 1932, thanks to the actions of Nikolaos Politis, then Greek Ambassador to France, and with financial support provided by the Greek diaspora. The building it is housed was designed by Greek Architect Nikolaos Zachos.
The evening will include musical interventions by: Yiorgos Kouroupos (Composer, pianist), Stella Gadedi (flute), Constantinos and Christos Sfetsas (cello), all former residents of the Fondation, accompanied by Yiorgos Sakkas (voice) and Yiannis Aeriniotis (piano). Former residents of the Greek Student Union, including Yiannis Polyzos, Vice Chancellor of the NTUA, director Costa-Gavras, as well as the projection of historical photographs and archives will permit the audience to go back into the history of the Fondation Hellénique in Paris and to relive 75 years of history and collective memory.
There will also be a presentation of the book “The Fondation Hellénique at the International University Campus of Paris. A Place of life – A Place of Memory: Student Years Revisited”, edited by Eleutheria Fili, historian and current resident of the Fondation Hellénique.
The evening will be presented by journalist Stelios Kouloglou.
The Fondation calls on all its old residents and friends.
