In line with its decision to support the effort of athletes in view of their preparations leading up to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, as well as in order to contribute by helping make the best possible use of such athletes in relation to the in depth development of Greek sport, starting in 1999, the A. G. Leventis Foundation instituted the annual Olympic Preparation Scholarships to athletes, both male and female, in individual sports, from Greece and Cyprus.
As part of this commitment, a discussion will take place on the topic of “Olympic Preparation for 2008”. Participants will include: I. Vassileiadis, President of the Committee for Olympic Preparation; V. Sevastis, President of the SEGAS Federation; Chr. Houmas, National Swimming Coach; Ph. Syrigos, Journalist / Sportswriter; P. Iakovakis, Member of the Greek Olympic Track Team.
The discussion will be coordinated by the Former President of the Committee for Olympic Preparation and Leader of the Olympic Team, Mr. G. Papadogiannakis.
The event will close with the awards ceremony for the Olympic Preparation scholarships to athletes, male and female, in individual sports, which will be handed out by Mr. M. Liapis, Minister of Culture.
