At the conclusion of the three-year long European Programme PROMET, for the study and protection of museum collections of metallic artefacts, a one-day conference will be held in order to present the activities and achievements of this programme.
Twenty-one partners from eleven countries from the Mediterranean basin took part in PROMET: Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Jordan, Malta, Morocco, Spain, the Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey and the Czech Republic.
The purpose of the programme was to develop and promote a strategy for studying and conserving museum collections of metallic objects in the Mediterranean, by developing new methods for gaining information and original portable systems to examine and analyse metal objects. Throughout the programme, conservation researchers developed new materials to improve metal protection.
