The Information Technology Department of the Benaki Museum presents the results of the project “Digital documentation and highlighting the collections and archives of the Benaki Museum”, financed by the Business Programme “Information Society”.
At this event, department curators and heads of the sub-projects will discuss: a) the digital documentation of a large part of the Museum’s collections and archives; b) producing the multimedia application entitled “Greek Set Designers and Ancient Drama”, which makes use of the recent enrichment of the Museum collections with significant theatrical archives; c) producing the multimedia application entitled “Athens through the eyes of Travellers: 17th to 19th century”, which brings together a portrait of the city through the works and references of travellers taking the Grand Tour; d) renewing and upgrading the Museum's website with an on-line presentation of the wealth of material in the Library and a large number of objects from the Museum's collections and archives, as well as the capability to freely search for terms throughout all the web-pages, and finally concerning upgrading the material and technical infrastructure of the Museum's intranet data network.
