The day conference will take place within the framework of the events for the CIDOC 2008 International Conference, for the purpose of highlighting the need for coordination and collaboration between Greek cultural agencies that produce digital content and to promote the need for significant initiatives for the production of Greek standards, which correspond to those of other countries.
It will include talks, which will touch on subjects that arise when undertaking programmes to digitise and document cultural objects and mainly on the difficulties relating to the development of new systems; clarifying the parameters of existing systems; analysing cultural data; and developing appropriate terminology in order to achieve optimum results when searching for data.
Within the framework of the day conference there will be an exhibition presenting the work of Greek cultural organisations, which have developed electronic documentation, in order to provide the public with an opportunity to have an overall opinion of what has been carried out in Greece in the sector of digital documentation of cultural heritage.
At the end of the day conference there will be a round table discussion, with guests from academia and representatives of agencies involved in documenting cultural data.
