FOLK WIND INSTRUMENTS OF THE AEGEAN IN ATHENS
Jornadas de música y documental
SAT 10/10/2009
As part of the two-day Pancycladic Musical Encounter of Folk Instruments, which takes place in Athens (10-11 October 2009), there will be a premiere showing of the film "The folk wind instruments of the Aegean", a documentary by Panos Karkanevatos with scholarly supervision by Lambros Liavas. A production of the Prefectural Local Government of the Cyclades, it observes and records the musicians who play traditional wind instruments (tsambouna and suravli) through their musical encounters in the Cyclades, on Samos, the Dodecanese and Crete.
When the film comes to an end, the sound of the tsambouna will set the tone for a small island festival in the Museum Atrium.

The second day of events will take place at the Museum of Greek Popular Musical Instruments (Sunday 11 October at 12:00).
