The film was awarded the prize for best digital film in this year’s 32nd Greek Short Film Festival in Drama. 

Mihalis Afolayan – actor, street musician, juggler – a son of immigrants from Nigeria, guides us on a tour of the Metaxourgio neighbourhood, as it is today. Streets, people, gentrification, as well as the coexistence of old and new in one of the oldest neighbourhoods of Athens. 

The film was created by the 2008 Documentary Group of the Municipality of Athens, whose main members are the directors credited. “METAXOURGIO” is their first documentary film and was implemented through the programme “Close to the Magical World of Cinema”, run by the Cultural Organisation of the Municipality of Athens. It is the result of a joint desire by a broad group of citizens of this municipality, with various perspectives, directions, ages and orientations, to express themselves through image, light, motion, speech and music.
