Yorgos Sicilianos (1920-2005) was one of the major post-war Greek composers. His oeuvre, as a mode of expression monitored world developments in the sphere of musical composition, while creating a personal idiomatic form. 
The quartets that will be performed, Nos. 1, 2 and 5 were written over a period of over 30 years, up to 1990 and follow the composer’s development. 
The New Hellenic Quartet was closely linked to Yorgos Sicilianos, and has perfomed and recorded all his chamber music, and received the great honour of being the dedicatee of the composer’s final opus “Echochromata”.
