El sustrato teórico de un proceso práctico...
El paso de la Geometría en el espacio a través de la construcción
THU 10/05/2024
The exhibition presents a selection of works by the architectural practice of Ferrater & Asociados (OAB), which were carried out from 1971 to the present day.
The exhibition was first presented outside Spain in 2006 in Chicago, USA, and specifically in the historical building of Crown Hall, designed by Mies van de Rohe on the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology. It then moved to Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Rome. The exhibition mainly consists of large sized posters and study models, which highlight the research process and the experimentation carried out by the Carlos Ferrater’s practice after 1989. Geometrical elements / mechanisms, such as networks, ribbons, nets are applied to various designs on different scales, contributing to the shaping of an initial idea; while at the same time research is carried out on their application in specific building programmes and/or in construction methods.
The exhibition also includes a review of the issue of geometry in architecture, presenting the oeuvre of various architects, engineers and artists in the twentieth century; and consists of 48 posters with works by the architect and 17 posters with topics on methodology, geometry and history, which have affected his work.
