The Irish/American artist Sean Scully (b. in Dublin in 1945) currently lives and works in New York, Barcelona and on the Bavarian countryside south of Munich. Scully will give a short introduction about his first exhibition in Greece focusing on the monumental Doric paintings that the artist has been making since 2009. Immense in scale and ambition the paintings have as their genisis the Doric principle which originated in ancient Greece. He will also speak about the works that he made in Simi in 1984. 

Oscar Humphries (born April 1981 in Sydney) is an Australian fine art journalist. He has been editor of the The Spectator's art magazine APOLLO since early 2010. In 2008 he was the launch editor of The Spectator Australia. As director of Sebastian + Barquet, London he curated shows on Carlo Mollino, Paolo Venini and Rick Owens. As head of international sales for Timothy Taylor Gallery he curated "The Tightrope Walker" with Emma Dexter. 

Sean Scully and Oscar Humphries have known each other for several years, and a discussion will follow about Scully’s work, touching on the DORIC theme through various techniques such as oil on wood, aluminium, linen, canvas, as well as etchings, woodcuts, watercolours putting this work in a wider context.
