Akis Goumas. P.138 - Routes
THU 10/05/2024
The Benaki Museum Shop is hosting an exhibition by Akis Goumas, part of a series of exhibitions entitled Material Quests. These exhibitions are organised and held at the Benaki Museum Shop in order to present and promote artists from the fields of applied arts and design.

The exhibition "P.138 – Routes" presents groupings of jewellery and objects, along four artistic paths. The starting point of this exhibition is a detail of some imaginary and transparent microcosm, which Akis Goumas has put together on the basis of elements, observations and drawings gathered during this quest. The artist experiments with traditional techniques but applies them with contemporary flair and perception. The materials utilised are metal, wood, glass and dyes.

Akis Goumas was born in Athens. He is an artist craftsman involved in the design and construction of jewellery and objects. He teaches at a Chalkis art studio and studies ancient techniques in the art of the metal-smith and jewellery-maker.
