Quintet of the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra The music of the Magyars'
FRI 05/04/2013
The concert will include pieces written by some of the most renowned Hungarian composers, as well as by composers inspired by the traditional music of the Magyars.

The programme will commence with Béla Bartók Duók (duets). Bartok is one of the major composers of the 20th century, and considered alongside Liszt as the Hungarian composers who have made a serious impact on the international repertoire. These will be followed by Leó Weiner’s Divertimento No.2, Weiner being considered to be the Hungarian Mendelssohn, and the first of Johannes Brahms’ Hungarian dances. These will be followed by Franz Liszt's Second Hungarian Rhapsody; Bartók’s Traditional Romanian Dances, Brahms’ Fifth Hungarian Dance and the concert will close with the Csárdás by Italian composer Vittorio Monti, a piece many consider as its composer’s best-known work.

The Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra Quintet tours the world performing concerts. Its repertoire is drawn from Central European classical and traditional music and recreate the familiar atmosphere of chamber music.
