Rudolf Preimesberger. Seminar on Baroque and Caravaggio
SAT 21/09/2013
The Society of Greek Art Historians (EEIT), with the intent of familiarizing the Greek public with some of the more important European art movements, invites internationally renowned art historians, to lead day-long seminars focusing on showcasing the artistic output of a certain period and/or the oeuvre of a major artist. For 2013, the EEIT’s first guest is Rudolf Preimesberger, Professor Emeritus at the Freie Universität Berlin. This Austrian Professor has worked as Director of the Munich Institute of Art History and is considered an expert on Italian baroque and the paintings of Caravaggio. The Professor will initially refer to the concepts which have been linked to this art movement and will proceed to discuss Caravaggio’s oeuvre. He will conclude by attempting to examine specific works by this artist in conjunction with the basic concepts he developed in the first part of the Seminar.

The seminar will be held in English language.
