The museum has expanded from its origin as a repository of artifacts and natural history finds to become something much bigger: an open university, a community center, a place for social events, a monument to civic pride. 

For the third annual conference on museum practices, curators, administrators, educators and artists will meet to talk about new developments in the field of museum education in Europe and North America. There will be a particular focus on how museums are using tools like Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Kickstarter to pool in a bigger audience, interpret their collections, and even fund exhibitions. 

Jeri Robinson, Vice President for Early Childhood Initiatives at the Boston Children’s Museum will speak about re-envisioning the role of the museum in the community. She is the founder of the Boston Cultural Collaborative for Early Learning and co-founder of both “Families First Parenting” programs and “Countdown to Kindergarten.” 

Wendy Woon, Deputy Director of Education at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, will present how MOMA is engaging globally in the digital age with sold out online courses ranging from digital finger-painting workshops to art classes for educators around the world. Ms. Woon leads one of the most innovative arts education programs in the U.S., turning the museum’s website into a teaching tool that reaches more than 30,000 people per year. 

Irini Papadimitriou, Digital Programmes Manager at Victoria & Albert Museum in London, programming activities and events for visitors of all ages, from electronics workshops and fun family-friendly interactives to 3D printing and digital design. She is responsible for programmes such as annual Digital Design Weekend and the monthly Digital Futures. Ms Papadimitriou is also Head of New Media Arts Development at Watermans. 

Finally, Dan Bird, Exhibitions and IT Director Director at @Bristol, will take the stage and discuss his work with his creative team on designing, developing, and evaluating educational interactive exhibitions. His "Explore More" initiative has been applied to various projects with some encouraging results.

There will be simultaneous interpretation into Greek and English.
