The one-day conference is realised on the occasion of the exhibition "Chronis Pechlivanidis. A journey into the world of Sufism". 
Islamic mysticism or Sufism is a spiritual movement formed within Islam. The principal aim of the mystic is the unification with God by lifting the limits of his personal existence and entering the confines of the divine. 
The aim of the meeting is to inform the public with the principles and the history of the spiritual movement as well as presenting diverse expressions in different geographical locations of the Middle East, the Balkans and North Africa. 
The speakers are experts in their field from the universities of Athens, Thessalonica and Thrace. 

Talks will be given in Greek.

After the conclusion of the talks there will be a visit to the exhibition and a performance by the Vikos Nahmias study group of ecstatic whirling in the area of the exhibition.
