Carnival in Aivali Lydia Koniordou recites Fotis Kontoglou
SUN 15/02/2015
Aivali was a special place. The rescued memoirs speak vividly for the celebrations which took place, especially the ones concerning the carnival. Both children and adults participated and contributed to a lively party.
Divine music, costumes, and impromptu theatre troupes. During the Aivali carnival season, dreams came alive: Alexander the Great came to life, the 12 gods, the heroes of the Greek War of Independence, but also Robinson Crusoe, the “BoerWars”, and the “Dutch Fleet”!

The carnival of Aivali comes to life briefly at the Benaki Museum. Lydia Koniordou recites the excerpt “The carnival and the 12 gods” by Fotis Kontoglou, from the book “Ayvalik: My Homeland”.
Haris Lambrakis will accompany her narration with the ney, while sketches from MrFotis’ carnival, taken from the graphic novel “Aivali” will be shown in the background.

The event takes place with the support of the group "Paizoume ecologica" (We play green). and Schedia Magazine
