On the occasion of the International Museum Day, which this year celebrates the theme Museums for a sustainable society, the Benaki Museum organizes a series of events between the 17th and 19th of May 2015.

At the Pireos street Annexe we invite you for a whole day of celebrations, with guided tours of the current exhibitions, educational programmes for children and our 3rd Bazaar with 240 book titles discounted at 50% and 70%.

Pepper 96.6 radio station will broadcast live from 13.00 until 17.00, from the museum, contributing to the festive atmosphere with its musical choices!

Especially for this day, all exhibitions will have FREE ADMISSION

PROGRAMMA OF EVENTS:
Guided tours:
At the exhibition “Soloúp Aivali: A journey in time” at 11.30, 13.30 & 16.30 The tours will be conducted by the designer of the graphic novel “Aivali” himself, Antonis Nikolopoulos (Soloúp).
At the exhibition “Cosmas Xenakis 1925-1984” at 13.00 & 16.00 The tours will be led by artist George Hadjimichalis, curator of the exhibition.

Educational Programme:
At the exhibition “Soloúp Aivali: A journey in time”- For children between the ages of 8 and 12 – Programmes begin at 11.00, 12.00 & 13.00
At the installation “Zafos Xagoraris: Downhill Classroom” - For children between the ages of 5 and 8 – Programmes will take place from 11.00 to 13.00

Musical Event at the exhibition “Soloúp Aivali: A journey in time”, at 16.30
The exhibition “Soloúp Aivali: A journey in time” after a journey of 3,5 months at the Benaki Museum, wishes to thank its visitors for their touching support by saying goodbye with a short nostalgic musical get-together, accompanied by the sounds of H.Villa-Lobos, J.Morel, L.Brouwer but also Greek tradition, provided by the music ensemble Musica Raeda.

During the 3rd Book Bazaar, the Benaki Museum Shop of the Pireos Street Annexe, will offer a wide variety of objects and stationery at a discount, from 40% to 70%, while on Sunday the 17th of May, which is the last day of the Bazaar, on the occasion of the International Museum Day, there will be a 10% discount on all its objects. For Members of the Museum there will be a 20% discount, on that same day.
