Launch of the new double volume 11-12 of the Benaki Museum scholarly journal. This event will include:

A welcome message from Angelos Delivorrias, member of the Benaki Board of Trustees,
A lecture from Stavros Vlizos, Head of the Amykles Research Project, and
Updating from Maria Diamandi, editor of the Benaki journal.

The new volume of the Benaki journal is dedicated to the results of the excavations and research activities carried out at the Spartan sanctuary of Apollo Amyklaios over the period 2005-2010. The excavations have brought to light one of the most significant Greek sanctuaries functioning as early as the Late Helladic period. The site - where the enigmatic temple of the god, the so-called Throne of Apollo, was located - hosted the Hyakinthia, the most important cult celebration of Lacedaemonians during ancient times.
