The catalogue/publication Christos Bokoros, The Bare Essentials is intended to showcase and trace back the painter’s exhibition with the same title which was organised at the Benaki Museum (Pireos St Annexe, 12/12/2013-2/2/2014). The catalogue is published in English by MER editions (www.merpaperkunsthalle.org/site) and its structure follows closely that of the exhibition itself, interrupted by the painter’s autobiographical text with the title «The Way», artfully translated from Greek into English by David Conolly.

The photographs of the french photographer Laziz Hamani (www.lazizhamani.com) which illustrate the catalogue are intended to show in its sharpest details the painters’ image-making power. They make appear in enhanced relief the simplicity of the material, the depth of the colour, the meaning of the images’ silence. They reveal the unseen harmony of a painting which strives to attain and seeks to offer back the glorious presentation, light, truth, life. They reveal that ultimately «Painting is a luminous curtain over chaos».
