WED 12/10/2016

The Benaki Museum celebrates the launch of the publication ELENI VERNADAKI, compiled and edited by art historian Eugenia Alexaki.

A large scale video installation will take over the Atrium of the Benaki Museum, accompanied by live improvisational electronic sounds.
The video entiled "1095°C" is homage to the work of Eleni Vernadaki. Over 400 ceramic works have been photographed, filmed and rearranged in cosmic formations creating a universe dominated by shapes of pottery. Plates become planets, floating teapots get lost in space and sculptural satellites travel through clay debris displaying the infinity of form in Vernadaki's work. She has turned these forms into solid matter at 1095°C.

Audiovisual installation crew:
Concept & design: Vassilis Zidianakis & Em Kei
Animation / post production: Haris Laloussis
Live electronic sounds: Kostadis & Pavlos Gkousios
