Greek Drama by children for children!
FRI 29/09/2017
The myth of Oedipus inspires a group of 6 eight-year old children to create the theater group “EMEIS EMEIS” and under the guidance of director Aliki Danezi Knutsen, they will be presenting, on the 29th of September, at Benaki Museum, OEDIPUS REX - a greek drama by children for children!

The children chose the play themselves, and created a performance that treats the Sophoclean tragedy with respect and veracity. The play, apart from several omissions and additions, is presented in whole, in a translation by Minos Volanakis. The play acquires an original exiting quality through the young children’s performances.

It is the first time an ancient tragedy is staged by children actors and aims at young audience. It is a unique opportunity for students, parents and teachers to watch the performance of a play that points to complex issues, in a version that will keep their undivided attention.

The performance was first presented at the Koumoundourou Square Amphitheater, on June 9th, 2017, with the support of the 1st Municipality of Athens and the Cultural Group “Panathinea”.
