Beethoven, as much as Bartok, found in the string quartet an ideal vehicle to express their most audacious ideas and to “test” the limits of their expressional means. Through their quartets they opened new roads, not only for this specific genre but also for music in general. The always active and bold Athens String Quartet will compete with two of them, chosen among the most groundbreaking and grandiose.
