The discussion will focus on issues that relate to collectors and collecting activities, and in particular on book collectors and their personalities.
The formation and break up of collections, the market and trading of books, their appropriation as physical objects, ex libris and provenance, the different criteria and penchants of book collectors –as for example travel literature or illustrated books- are some of the subjects that will be discussed.
In addition, other issues that will be addressed are the subjects of cataloguing and publishing descriptive catalogues, the differences between private and public collections/libraries and the collectors/researchers, who either publish their own findings, or by offering their collections to the wider public contribute to the advancement of knowledge and to the community as a whole.
