On the occasion of the presentation of the book entitled “ Garter and Becket" published by the University Studio Press, an exhibition will take place, presenting 55 images by Aris Georgiou. The photographs, belong to the series HOMO ERECTUS and have been kindly donated by the photographer to Benaki Museum Photographic Archives.
Aris Georgiou was born in 1951 in Thessaloniki, Greece. He studied architecture in Montpellier, France, where he also obtained a postgraduate diploma in town planning. He has been the founder and leading spirit in "Photosynkyria", the international festival of photography held yearly in Thessaloniki since February 1988 and the first director of the Thessaloniki Museum of Photography. Since 1977 he has published his artistic work, articles and translations on photography, art and architecture in many Greek reviews and other publications.
