Jazztronica meets Soloup
WED 23/01/2019
At the opening of the exhibition based on Soloup’s new graphic novel "The Collector. Six Stories about a Bad Wolf" a concert by "Drums & Voice Jazztronica Duet" will be given, with the comics creator participation (live-drawing). Guest: Dimitris Papadopoulos (trumpet).

Jazztronica, the vocalist Aggeliki Toubanaki and the drummer Ilias Doumanis, will perform their own compositions that they have composed original music for Soloup's graphic novel, and songs of the bebop, modal, hardbop jazz scene, with emphasis on improvisation and extended use of each instrument. The audience will have the opportunity to experience the unique collaboration of the three artists, which evolves on stage in real time: Strange sounds, effects, and vocalisms are transformed in one breath into colors, shadows and lines.

“Drums & Voice Jazztronica Duet”

The vocalist Aggeliki Toubanaki and the drummer Ilias Doumanis create in 2014 the “Drums & Voice Jazztronica Duet”. They work with classic jazz songs. Furthermore they create their own original compositions, based on improvisational interaction and free musical expression. With the specially designed electronic drums set, the sound design fxs and the real time loups orchestrate, harmonize and at the same time deconstruct the usual function of the two instruments, in order to offer multidimensional melodicity to the drums and extended polyphonic presence in the voice. “Drums & Voice Jazztronica Duet” has presented their creations at the Athens Jazz Festival, the Tinos Jazz Festival, the Preveza Jazz Festival, the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the Byzantine Museum, the Numismatic Museum, the Half Note Club and many other festivals and venues.

The event is part and supported by the Athens 2018 World Book Capital - City of Athens
