The Benaki Museum is planning a series of events seeking to honour and highlight the work of certain cultural organisations of the Greek Provinces. Within the framework of this policy, this year the Museum will organise the first such event, focusing on the E. Averoff Gallery of Metsovo. As an organisation, since 1988 the Gallery has contributed to promoting Modern Greek artistic creations and has made its own intellectual contribution of major importance, by constantly enriching its initial nucleus of collections, regularly organising events and temporary exhibitions, as well as by its abundant publishing and educational activities.
The goal of the event is, on the one hand, to make the intellectual contributions of the Averoff Gallery more broadly known and to increase recognition for this work, and on the other hand, to raise public consciousness for the need to supply all such cultural organisations with the necessary moral and financial support, which will allow them to dynamically pursue their path.
Art historians Olga Mentzafou-Polyzou, Alkis Haralambidis, Olga Danielopoulou, Tatiana Averoff-Ioannou and Angelos Delivorrias will speak on the contributions of the Metzovo Gallery.
