TUE 21/06/2005
On the occasion of Museum Day, Dionysis Savvopoulos will perform a concert with his work on two classic comedies by Aristophanes, Acharneis (Acharnians) and Ploutos (Wealth).
The Acharneis by Savvopoulos were first presented at the nightclub “RIGAS” in Plaka in December 1976. There followed performances in Heraklio, Crete, in the summer of 1981 (part of the “Musical August” organised by Manos Hatzidakis), at the celebrations for 2,000 years of the city of Thessaloniki in the autumn of 1985 at the Megaron – The Athens Concert Hall and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, as “Savvorama”, in the winter 2000-2001.

In 1985 Dionysis Savvopoulos wrote the music and translated the choral odes from Ploutos for the National Theatre performance that was presented for the first time that summer at Epidaurus, directed Louca Ronconi.

The musical and stage direction, as well as the texts are by Dionysis Savvopoulos; the choreography by Sofia Spyratou. Elena Kourkouli, Dimitris Ferras, Tzina Kalantzi, Evi Hatzaki, Lia Tsolaki, Phaidra Soutou and Antonis Antoniou will be dancing for the Dance Theatre Roes.
The second part of the concert will include many of Dionysis Savvopoulos’ well known songs.
