Historian Dimitris Arvanitakis, the editor of this volume, gathered and presents 550 letters in Italian between Andreas Moustoxydis (1785-1860) an intellectual from Corfu and Emilios Typaldos (1785-1860) an intellectual from Kephalonia, that shed light on important aspects of political life in Italy and in Greece (mainly the Ionian Islands), provide insights about historical personages, and various scientific issues. An extensive introduction, that precedes the letters, aims to set out the atmosphere of the period, and to set the scene for the actions of the two protagonists in the framework of an era that was so critical on both sides of the Adriatic Sea.
At the presentation there will be talks by Angelos Delivorrias, director of the Benaki Museum; historian Spyros Adrahas; Ellie Giotopoulou-Sicilianou, professor emeritus of the Ionian University; and Professor Nikos Karapidakis, of the Ionian University, historian.
