BOUSIANIS
EXHIBITION
BOUSIANIS
De la colección de Vasilis I. Balambou
FROM 15/11/2005 - TO 05/02/2006
The largest gathering of works by Yorgos Bousianis since (1885-1959): A total of seventy oil paintings, watercolours, pastels, and drawings presented in the exhibition, highlight the particular painting style of one of the most important representatives of European expressionism.
After studying at the Athens School of Fine Arts and in Munich, and a short-lived flirtation with academic painting, realism and expressionism, Bousianis formed a recognisable, personal, expressionistic style that secured him a place in the Greek avant-garde.
The pieces in the exhibition are from the collection of Vassilis J. Valambous, who for 27 years has attempted to locate the works of Bousianis, which are spread out amongst owners of various nationalities, and to reconstitute the unity of this broken-up artistic production; and in the process has put together the richest private collection of works by this important Greek painter.

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue containing photographs and bibliographic documentation of the works, as well as texts by Angelos Delivorrias, Vassilis J. Valambous, Chronis Botsoglou and Sania Papa.
