This book, which was the catalogue for the exhibition of the same name (Benaki Museum, November 1999), is about the studios of Nikos Hadjikyriakos-Ghika in the places where he lived and worked: from Paris where he began his career in the 1920s to Athens in the 1990s, with stopovers in Hydra, London and Corfu. Oil paintings, water-colours and drawings on the theme of the painter’s studio create a rich thematic set of works from public and private collections. Photographs of the same places and of the artist, taken by well-known Greek and foreign photographers as he was working in them, supplement the views of Ghika’s studios.
