Book of photographs about the life and work of Penelope Delta, from her childhood in Alexandria (b. 1874) to her death (1941), interwoven with the political and historical events of her times. The book is divided into two main parts. The first gives a brief account of the historical context of the period and of the city in which she was born and brought up, the family origins, her position in her father’s house, and information about her marriage and her friendship with Ion Dragoumis. The second part deals with her intellectual output, as well as contemporary events as she recorded them. Through the early drafts of her books, her correspondence with the demoticists of the age and the wealth of illustrations, the reader will be able to form a full picture of the environment in which the personality of this great Greek woman was born and developed.
