Armenian Relics of Cilicia

This book concerns the history and art of the Armenians of Cilicia, from the glories of the middle ages to their violent expulsion in 1915. The publication accompanied the exhibition of the same name at the Benaki Museum (30 October - 10 December 2002). Besides a concise description of the artefacts in the exhibition, it also includes historical background on the Armenians of Cilicia by Tom Sinclair, Assistant Professor of the Department of Turkish Studies at the University of Cyprus; a text on the illumination of Armenian manuscripts by Helen Evans, curator of the Byzantine Collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; as well as a text about the ossuary of the Monastery of Saint Sophia of Sis by Anna Ballian, curator of the Department of the Post-Byzantine Collection of the Benaki Museum.
