PUBLICATIONS

This publication accompanies the exhibition “Karolos Koun – The Greek Art Theater” (25/09/2008 – 16/11/2008) and includes an analytical record of all the performances directed by Karolos Koun from 1930 to 1987, as well as the activities of the The Greek Art Theater throughout the life of its founder.

The book is structured in four sections:
- 1930-1942, Athens College, Laiki Skini, The Kotopouli Company, The Katerina Company
- 1942-1950, The Greek Art Theater
- 1950-1954, The National Theatre of Greece, the Adamantios Lemos Company, the Katerina Company, the Vassilis Diamantopoulos Company
-1954-1987, The Greek Art Theater

Each section records the performances given in each theatrical season, the reviews of the performance, the location and date of the first night. Each theatrical season is accompanied by a concise presentation, which mentions the repeat performances, the performances that went on tour, and, particularly for those periods of time that concern the Greek Art Theater, records of other activities of the company and productions directed by Karolos Koun’s close collaborators (Hatzimarkou, Lazanis, Kougioumtzis, Armenis). The book also includes additional lists and an index in order to provide as full a picture as possible of the major contribution to the Greek theatre made by Karolos Koun. The photographs that illustrate the performances are from the archive of the Greek Art Theater.
