This publication presents the casts and preliminary studies for sculptures from the many years during which sculptor Yiannis Pappas was tackling the task of depicting Eleutherios Venizelos. These works record the steps taken by the artist from the point of an idea for a piece up to the final study before its completion. The sculptor was personally acquainted with Eleutherios Venizelos and thus sought to reproduce in his works the charm and magnetism of the political leader and to record in these significant aspects of his character and his political achievements. In the casts and preliminary studies for sculptures, in the models depicting Eleutherios Venizelos, we can see the progress of the artist to a point where the composition of the piece appears in a manner symbolic of the magnetism of the great Greek politician.
