The publication was released on the occasion of the exhibition under the same title presented at the Benaki Museum of Islamic Art (October - November 2017) and focuses on the ceramics of the Ottoman period, and specifically those that were created in the 16th century in the city of Iznik, Asia Minor. Vases with bright colours and vibrant designs were admired and made sought after during their production as well as in the 19th century. The purpose of the exhibition is to highlight a route starting in the middle of the 19th century with the interest of Europeans and ends with the workshops of Greece, and particularly those in Faliro and Rhodes, which attempt the revival of ceramics.
