Γιώργος Μπουζιάνης και "Οι Φίλοι του Μπουζιάνη"

Περίληψη

This article by Thanos Constantinidis, doctor and Assistant Professor at Athens University, who was a devoted friend of the painter George Bousianis (1885-1959) and a great admirer of his work, is published here in connection with the exhibition of Bousianis’ work held at the Benaki Museum from 16 November 2005 to 5 February 2006. As the title of the article indicates, the first part consists of interesting personal reminiscences of the author’s friendship with the artist, which describe a period which was unfavourable to the reception of his work, and also information about the artist’s life, mainly during his last twenty years in Athens. The second part, which concerns the “Friends of Bousianis” society, founded on November 1959, demonstrates the major contribution made by the society towards the promotion of Bousianis’ work through exhibitions and publications, and refers to its enlightened first chairmen, Yannis Miliadis, head of the 1st Ephoria of Classical Antiquities and George Mourelos, Professor of Philosophy.
